As revealed by the Telegraph earlier this week, the medical duo would not be in the dugout for the game after their actions in the dying minutes of last week’s draw with Swansea which led to Mourinho calling them “naive”.
Both Carneiro and Fearn ran on to the pitch to give Eden Hazard treatment – but were criticised by a visibly angry Mourinho at the time and post-match for potentially hurting the team.
According to Mourinho, it left Chelsea down in personnel going into the last few minutes and could have cost them the match.
The situation has marred the club’s preparation for the weekend clash with City.
But Mourinho has now moved to clarify his thoughts on the situation.
